  • Ladies and gentlemen of the BSL, welcome to the 2013 season. It promises to be another super season for adult soccer in Burlington.
  • In 2013, with 80 teams spread across our various divisions, we can truly say that the membership of the Burlington Soccer League bridges all boundaries by offering organised soccer to male and female, old(ish) and young and the skilled and, perhaps, not so skilled members of our community. It does not seem too long ago that these objectives were dreams, but look how far we have come in bringing soccer-for-all to the fields of Burlington.
  • More and more, our enjoyment of the game is becoming a reflection of the energy that many dedicated people put into the organisation of our club. During the winter, with the support of the team convenors, the Executive Committee completed the transition of the BSL from a volunteer base to a professional foundation. LSGM, as many of you will have noticed, now have both the business and operational reins of the Club under their auspices which is an exciting, and inevitable, development. I believe we can now honestly state that the BSL is a professional operation, managed by sports management specialists and guided by an Executive Committee that is dedicated to delivering a quality product to our membership. It can only get better.
  • The two primary objectives of the Executive Committee remain unchanged. The first, and it will always be first, is to provide value for money for the members of the BSL. Specifically, the goal is to hold the pricing static for as long as is feasible while holding the number of games you get for your money constant. Not an easy deliverable. The second is to ensure that the membership continues to have a strong voice in the management of the BSL. That voice will be translated into business and operational requirements by the Executive Committee and will become the cornerstone of continuous improvement for the BSL.
  • In the meantime, the first whistle is upon us. With that, on behalf of the Executive Committee, I would like to wish you an enjoyable and successful season in which every player you encounter embodies the spirit of fair play that is the heart of the BSL.

Good luck, and have a great year.
Les Bell
